While canvassing on Kings Reach I met Phil Button who has been campaigning tirelessly for improved accessibility on the Kings Reach estate. The issues he raises don’t only impact on those with mobility issues, but also anyone with a pushchair or sight problems. There are a number of streets, such as Maunder Avenue, where there is simply no pavement and I found myself walking in the road for fear of upsetting any householders (I wasn’t sure if it was part of their front garden!) but I can easily see how it would become a rutted and a trip hazard in the summer and a muddy quagmire in the winter.
If I am elected I have pledged to work with Phil to address these issues with CBC and the consortium. Moreover, with the recent approval for 1500 new homes, its essential we acknowledge the lessons learned from Kings Reach in terms of access to buildings, use of materials such as cobbles and providing sufficient parking for the homes that are being built.
I’ve attached a leaflet that Phil was kind enough to send me, which includes his contact details. Please do get in touch with him if you are keen to lend your support.
Given there is an
election on 2nd May, the following details are known as an election ‘imprint’
and are added to ensure people realise I am a candidate and all is transparent:
