UPDATES

There were lots of issues raised by residents while I was canvassing over the weekend that I wanted to share alongside an update on actions I’ve taken so far. I’ll provide further updates as and when I get them.

1. Drug dealing/taking around the pocket park and BP garage – reported to my contact in North Beds police who will log it as intelligence, hopefully this will lead to patrols.

2. Potholes on Chambers Way that get patched but need almost constant repairs – I have been in touch with CBC who are going to assess if it needs re-surfacing.

3. Speed limit & road markings on Chambers Way near the park – I have contacted CBC to see if the speed limit can be lowered to 20mph and parking restricted at the junction with Lilac Grove to prevent accidents.

4. Saxon Drive – I have contacted CBC to see if the speed limit can be reduced to 30mph on this stretch of road and the possibility of introducing crossings to allow easy access for families to the retail park and Green Wheel, as well as reducing road noise for local residents.

5. I have identified that funding does exist for new football pitches in Biggleswade but the council are struggling to identify suitable land. I am hoping to speak to a couple of people this evening who might be able to help take this forward but if you have any ideas please let me know.

I know of two other areas where I have witnessed activity consistent with drug dealing – and on more than one occasion. Obviously, if I state the locations here then those involved will move their activity elsewhere. If you want to contact me directly I will happily provide details.

It would be great if you could e.mail me with details as there is an anti-drugs initiative running at the moment and I can feed information in.
